Dr. Scott Sampson, PhD
President & CEO
Scott Sampson serves as President and CEO of Science World British Columbia in Vancouver, where much of his work focuses on rethinking and catalyzing the kind of education we need for the 21st Century. He is a dinosaur paleontologist and science communicator, with undergraduate and Masters degrees in anthropology and a PhD in zoology.
Prior to joining Science World, Scott served as the Vice President of Research and Collections at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Scott’s scientific research has focused on the ecology and evolution of Late Cretaceous dinosaurs, and he has conducted fieldwork in countries all over the world.
Scott has appeared in many television documentaries and served as a science advisor for a variety of media projects. He has published numerous scientific and popular articles and authored multiple books, including Dinosaur Odyssey: Fossil Threads in the Web of Life (University of California Press, 2009); and How to Raise a Wild Child: The Art and Science of Falling in Love with Nature (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015). Scott regularly gives presentations to audiences of all ages, on topics ranging from evolution and science to education and nature connection. He is perhaps best known as “Dr. Scott the Paleontologist,” host and science advisor of the Emmy-nominated PBS KIDS television series Dinosaur Train, produced by the Jim Henson Company, which airs around the world.
Scott was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and lives in West Vancouver with his wife Toni and his daughter Jade.
Brian Radburn, CPA, CA
Vice President, Corporate Operations & Chief Financial Officer
Brian is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over thirty years of financial experience. A retired partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, he's served as the CFO of a number of private companies in the technology sector. Brian has considerable governance experience, serving on Boards of various healthcare-related institutions, charities and not-for-profit organizations.
As Vice President, Corporate Operations & Chief Financial Officer, Brian plans and directs corporate operations that support the capabilities of the Science World team to deliver on its strategic priorities. As well, he oversees the financial operations and financial planning at Science World. Through analysis, discipline and organization, Brian ensures that each of these areas best support and serve the mission and priorities of the organization.
Vice President, Exhibits, Digital and Evaluation
Andrea joined Science World in November 2013, bringing 17 years of experience in the museum field. Previously, Andrea was the Director of Exhibits at the Museum of Science in Boston. Prior to that she was the Director of the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network and Manager, Exhibit Projects. Concurrent to those positions, Andrea headed the Architectural Master Planning project and co-led the Environmental Sustainability Committee of the Board of Trustees.She has also worked as a management consultant at Mercer Management Consulting, a technology consultant at Arthur D. Little, and as a packaging engineer at Polaroid Corporation.
A graduate of the Noyce Leadership Institute, Andrea’s strategic initiative for the year-long program was to engage the greater community in creating a comprehensive exhibition on technology and thus increase public understanding of the importance of technological literacy to society.
Andrea holds a Bachelor of Science degree in packaging engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She also holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Babson College.
Vice President, Marketing & Visitor Experience
Teresa is a passionate and creative marketer always looking to experiment with good ideas. With over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of marketing and communications, she is known for building meaningful brand stories that create emotional connections. Teresa has broad experience in developing omnichannel marketing programs that deliver impactful and memorable experiences, both here and in the United Kingdom.
Teresa leads Science World’s brand strategy, marketing, communications and visitor experience in a way that helps people to feel welcomed, inspired and delighted.
Teresa started her career in publishing & events in the UK. She then transitioned into the tech space where she led the marketing strategy across 12 European countries for Yahoo! Search Marketing.
From early childhood, Teresa has always loved hearing and sharing stories. “So many people have their own personal stories about Science World and I love that I get to hear those stories. I’m thrilled to be part of creating and sharing the next chapter of Science World’s story!”
Vice President, Development
Nancy joined the Science World team in July 2018, bringing with her over twenty years’ experience in the charitable sector. As Vice President, Development, Nancy leads a critical team dedicated to corporate development, philanthropy, donor and member relations, grants and research, all critical to the success of a not-for-profit organization. Indeed, Nancy is committed to the success of each of her colleagues and staff to ensure that the organization thrives for years to come.
Prior to joining Science World, Nancy was the VP Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships at JDRF, where she worked with staff, organizations and volunteers across the country to drive a major gifts campaign and develop successful corporate partnerships. Previously she acted as Executive Director of the Arthritis Society, BC & Yukon Division, and has held roles with BC Special Olympics and the Aberdeen Cyrenians.
